About Project Conserve: Focus Areas

Volunteer Engagement

Volunteers multiply the impact of the AmeriCorps members and create community buy-in and support for our initiatives. Our program is able to achieve much more and be more sustainable through the support of dedicated community volunteers, who personally benefit from the improved physical, social, and mental health gained through volunteering.  Project Conserve members recruit, train, and manage volunteers for environmental and conservation volunteer projects in their communities. Members recruit and manage volunteers for four primary service activities:

  • Collect water quality monitoring data to assess stream health
  • Make direct ecosystem improvements, including habitat/stream restoration, invasive species removal, and river clean-ups
  •  Increase recreational opportunities through trail building/improvements and paddle trail campsite constructions
  • Lead and assist with community education and awareness activities
